1. Can you say "Paul McCartney"? |
|
The Beatles to glitz pop. Ugh.
Though John Lennon didn't fare much better either after they split, IMO.

2. Weller. Although, Mick Jones could also qualify. |

What, with BAD and all that jazz.
I should note that I think Sting has, since he was conceived, consistently sucked like no other sucker has sucked before.

4. Ah, I see you've added Bowie and Young |
|
Whereas Bowie changed for God knows why, Young changed at least three times during the 80s with the intent of pissing off David Geffen, who insisted he make a Neil Young album. Sure, it lead to "Trans", "Old Ways", and "The Shocking Pinks", but at least it angered David Geffen.
As for Bowie, I think he reached his lowest point dancing around in that video with Mick Jagger that looked like it was produced for $7.

5. Young gets away with it on account of being a deliberate contrarian. |
|
Bowie has no excuse. Hell, I don't even care much for Let's Dance.
Don't let anyone fool you, though. Clearly the nadir is Labyrinth.

8. Yikes. I remember asking my mom what he was. |
|
She came up with a very convoluted answer about him being a man who dressed like a woman...or was a woman at one point...anyway, it really did a lot to shape my views on sexual identity. Plus, who could resist a glammed-out Beethoven singing "Dance Magic Dance" with an assortment of Jim Henson trolls?

10. It is also of note that Bowie steals children in real life too. |

11. Gotta go with Sting-- it's the ego, maaaaaaaan |
|
Sorry, but I don't call going from manic guitar-pop to "smooove jazzz" evolution. But then again he sells millions of CDs to yuppies now.

|
IOW, right about the time when Martin Rushent rushed in to save them.
This was also around the time that Martyn Ware left the band.

16. I'd vote Weller because I've enjoyed NOTHING since the Jam. |
|
All the others have had, bare minimum, a decent single since their conversions.
And you left off REM: from jangling, original Alt rock to whatever the fuck "Monster" was to AudioProzac.

Switch from precision thrash to dull mainstream metal. edit: then to egotistical whiners about file sharing.
