Farscape --- Best Sci-Fi Ever? Discuss.
I love Farscape, I am so happy to see it being re-run in preperation for the upcoming Peacekeeper Wars.

1. Second-best to Firefly, that is...
...but then you'd expect me to say that, wouldn't you?

3. Mmm...Jewel Staite
Definitely the most edible engineer to grace any scifi show EVER. The show itself was somewhat predictable, but it was a welcome change from the endless spacewars that dominate all the other scifi shows.

2. Most original. Most well written. Best sets.
But "Best Sci-Fi" is just too subjective.

I already have my Tivo programmed for the Peacekeeper Wars though :)

5. Babylon 5
Babylon 5 wins this one with ease :) The plot is incredibly interesting and had quite a few nice "morals" inbedded in it.

6. Welcome to DU, Martti! I totally agree with your opinion!
Farscape was good, but they made a lot of it up as they went along. B5 had the advantage of being one big pre-planned uber-plot.

7. I gotta third that opinion.
But hell, if it's sci-fi, I'll watch practically anything.

(Except Lexx)

8. Lexx actually has some good points too
If you just stick to the early movies.

10. Lexx is my favorite
The first 3 seasons are excellent science fiction. I have a special appreciation for Lexx. Kind of an emotional attachment, which I guess means I'm a fan.

The fourth season, when the Germans were no longer involved, it became very very bad, unfortunately, save for a few episodes. The fourth season is also when they all but abandon the coherent story that the first 3 seasons carried.

But, because I have an attachment to the show, I can even enjoy watching episodes from season 4 again, except for a couple which are agonizingly bad.

I've just recently started paying attention to Farscape, and it's becoming my next attachment. Initially I thought it was a lame Lexx ripoff and was put off by the muppets. But, it's actually very sophisticated and interesting.

Babylon 5 was the previous show I had an attachment to. Season 3 of babylon 5 is metaphorical with respect to Bush's handlers I think. The key theme of the show becomes resolved though before the end of the 5 seasons, and I remember thinking it lost something after that. I'm gradually buying the dvds and am currently watching season 4.

I actually become embarrassed about watching Bablyon 5 in the presence of my girl friend though, because a certain Yugoslavian actress has an exaggerated and melodramatic style that looks weird and silly to someone expecting acting to be believable

All of these are shows that are one story from start to finish. I guess I like that as compared to random short stories.

9. Not even close
Babylon 5 takes the cake there. After the first season, I couldn't follow Farscape to save my life - especially the whole everyone's-dead-oh-wait-now-they're-not season finale that made NO SENSE whatsoever.
