Tailgating....
This morning I experienced the worst case of tailgating I've ever had. Granted I'm not the fastest driver in the world. I stay with the flow. The speed limit in the area I was in was 55 mph. I was doing about 60. Shit for brains behind me in his pick up was no more than 6 inches off my bumper for eight miles. Damn I hate tailgating. I slowed down, sped up, tapped my brakes..nothing worked. I was so friggin mad I finally pulled into a lot to let the simple bastard by. To me it's the worst infraction there is on the road. Had to have been a damn Repuglikan.

1. Funny you'd say that
I don't get a lot of traffic on my commute, but it seems whenever there are whacky drivers, they have a Repuke sticker.

2. You did the best thing
just finding an opportunity to let him pass. You never know these days, particularly if you are sporting bumper stickers (sad to say).

3. What were you supposed to do?
I would keep a little American flag on a stick I might wave from a window - trolling for sympathy. Maybe wave a United We Stand bumper sticker on a piece of card board.

Is there no way to indicate you are one of his peeps ?

Maybe he'd back off then.

4. That's my biggest pet peeve...
When I have someone in a fancy car on my ass, I'm always tempted to slam on my brakes and let him/her hit me. I guess I'm not brave enough to do that, though, because I always pull over like you did.

5. Digital camera time
As a bicyclist, I have taken to carrying a digital camera and taking pictures of people who are harassing me with their cars. In a car, you just have to take a picture of your rear view mirror - if you get a license number post it online. Even if you don't actually get any useful pictures if the guy can see you clearly with a camera in your hands - it will put a brake on their behavior.

6. For me, the victim of a total of 3 rear enders in 9 years....

I'll tell you, I hate those ass riders with a passion. I usually get them when on exit ramps with no fucking room to pull over, or on single or 2 lane roads and highways. They fucking drive me nuts, one time I was driving to work, and I was heading on I-70 west, then I just entered the exit ramp that leads to I-270 north. For anyone who knows the area, its a long assed exit ramp, with no room to pull over or anything.

Anyways, I enter the proper lane, and as soon as I do, this big ass 16 wheeler goes right up on my ass. I'm at 60mph at this point, I was driving a '95 Corsica and this asshole was so close that I couldn't see his headlights, just the damned grill. So I sped up to 80 and he matched my fucking speed. I was pissed, and it was a good thing the road ahead of me was clear. So I looked at my buddy in the passenger seat and told him to hold on. I slammed on the brakes, and as soon as I heard his loud ass breaks engage, they were loud by the way, I gunned it and barely avoided him plowing over us. My buddy kept on saying, holy shit, holy shit. I simply said that nobody, NOBODY fucks with me on the road, I obey the rules as much as possible and they better be damned sure to follow the rules as well.

I must of scared the shit out of the Mack driver, cause, when I looked back next, he was far far away. Was it smart, no, but then again my satisfaction was enough.

7. St. Louis?
After having lived in Missouri for many years I can say it doesn't
hold a candle for tailgating like the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
