My dog is better than your dog
I've had him 4 weeks. He's 3 and a half months old.

He's now potty-trained. He knows Sit, Down, Heel, and Stay. Yesterday I taught him to "high-five". He does it consistently.

This afternoon, he stole some soap slivers from the bathroom trash-can and chewed 'em up. I can only conclude that he used a dirty word and washed his own mouth out.

Tucker RAWKS. I've never had a puppy before... it's so awesome. He is such a source of joy.

6. aww...
I still adore my kitties. There needn't be a dog/cat divide.

But you're right, the relationship with a dog is very very different than one with a cat. The dog is SO much more reliant on me for everything. And I got super-lucky in choosing a GREAT dog. He really is awesome. He's super-cute, super-friendly, (generally) well-behaved and smart. I LOVE training him.

My cats, however, never required any training and minimal attention. They just love being loved, and that's way cool, too.

8. yes, I was gonna say
your dog might be more, um, prolific, than my dog tonight

the worst shit ever was when my dog ate a tube of desitin diaper rash medicine...

just piles and piles of diaper smelling pink poop all over the carpet. The stains never came out, even after steam-cleaning.

11. hrmm...
the soap incident was 6 hours ago, and he's pooped one normal poop since then and has shown no distress. But he DID throw up earlier... maybe that was it.

But he seems fine. He just went into his kennel for the night. No bubbles :(

15. Just gave my dog a bath....
The first since about June (eeewww), but I had a broken leg and couldn't do it until now and wasn't going to send her out because it stresses her real bad, she's such a baby. She, of course, found a bit of an old little piece of soap in the tub and ate it!! I thought I cleaned it out good first, but I totally missed it. It must have been a little piece left in the soapdish and got splashed out when I was rinsing out the tub first.

Your dog sounds awesome!!!

Congratulations; you must be doing many things right!!! Especially love, which I bet you have in abundance.

Have fun and joy with your new puppy.

17. heheh
I gave Tucker his first bath yesterday. He did pretty well.

I shampooed him twice, but he STILL smelled like a dirty wet dog until he dried off - then he smelled OK.

18. They always smell a bit funky after a bath...
Just like a wet dirty dog, no matter how well you wash the little critters.

I've heard you shouldn't "overwash" them because it removes too much of the oil in their coat; just enough to get rid of the dirt.

23. Ha, no way---my dog is the best dog of them all!

He's sweet, loyal, loves little children and doesn't complain when they pull his ears or his tail. He knows how to come, speak, heel, stay, and he goes to his room when I tell him to. Max is the kind of dog that loves curling up by your side, and he won't move from that spot until you move, and then he follows you everywhere. It's so adorable! I've had this sweet dog for twelve years :-)
