have you ever heard or used the term "freeper" in the offline world? |
|
I'd be really curious to know. It seems like the Internet has its own jargon that may or may not make it out into the "real" world. I got really curious about this question after I asked a fellow liberal if he knew what a "freeper" is, and he didn't know.
(BTW, he's now on DU, although I don't know if he posts or just lurks. Hi to Fred from CCSF if you're reading this!)

Like I use it when I talk with other DUers of course, I only used it once not around anyone from the boards, I went to the wrong room for philosophy last year and I saw a banner from Free Republic, I was like holy shit the guy is a freeper.

9. My girlfriend and I use it as an all encompassing term for wingers. |
|
(Even when we not sure if the person even uses the Internet.) It just rolls off the tongue, and it sounds so dirty and derogatory:
"F*ing Freepers!"
I really do think it could become part of the general political lexicon, independent of FR. That site is so ugly, I wouldn't send anyone there, but I will call you a freeper if you've got a */C sticker on your car.

11. Yes, and this is NO LIE. It is our family word for fart. |
|
We have used this term for as long as I can remember. I think my dad started it, for obvious reasons. (Sorry, dad!)
As in, "Ooops, sorry, I freeped."
and, "Dad, you are such a freeper!"
and, "No freeping in the back seat!"

12. I've used it talking to friends about online poll results. |
|
I said, "Ah, don't believe it, that poll has been freeped." Of course, they just stared at me and I had to explain the whole thing.

I use it instead of the word conservative when discussing politics.
