I'm pretty new here, but I have a question.
Are we allowed to fib, here? Is that something we shouldn't do?

20. PLease watch your language -- 'whoppers' indeed.
Don't you know how Faux News tried to sue Al Franken over his use of 'Fair and Balanced'? Well, 'Whopper' is trademarked by Faux Foods -- I mean Burger King. ;-)

8. or maybe it is a question
related to the content of some of the candidate threads get posted around here.

I can safely say that I have seen "fib" threads started against all of the candidates. Worst thing is that when folks are called on it - most do not admit - wow... after reading the responses I realize that maybe this wasn't a reliable source I posted - this was an educational discussion... instead a new "fib" thread gets started either related to the first fib or finding a new one.

Really sad little dynamic to see going on. And no one campaign camp has sole ownership of the technique.

11. Welcome, but just be careful
many fibs which "out" the freepers start with one of these:

"I always voted Democrat until . . ." (note, they can't resist not using the proper name of the party)

"I have been a lifelong liberal, but . . ."

26. Not regional. Planned strategy by VWRC
Always refer to the Democrat Party rather than Democratic, 'cause "democratic" has positive connotations. "Vote Democrat" though makes a degree of sense, since "vote democratic" sounds French or some sh--.

18. Why in the world would you even...........
ask that question? I mean really. Obviously, some things are simply someone's opinion. Others are articles or excerpts and such from newspapers or other periodicals which almost always include a link. If there's no link, it's pretty much up to you to find out if it's the truth or not. Even with links, you have to use your own head to consider the source.

"Uncle Diego" is the same person who, in another thread, asked why calling someone a "wetback" should be considered racist.

Enough said.

23. Depends
If you want to lie about:

- Kerry's war record

- Kerry's high school hockey relationships

- Clark's war record

- Dean's economic plans

then you can have a ball and lie your ass off. Be sure to NOT provide backup for your allegations, though. No one else who floats these lies does so. Consistency is the hobgoblin of the lying troll, but it would be too weird if you actually used facts.

Welcome to DU.
