Anyone have a portable XM or Sirius receiver? |
|
I'm tired of having to sit by my desk to listedn to Air America (I live in DC), but I don't want to buy a new car stereo.
Does anyone have the portable unit? Does it work in the car? Any comments would be appreciated.

2. I have the kenwood house to home |

I bought it last year for my new car because the store didn't have the dash board adaptor for a radio that accepted sirius.
I keep the unit in my car (hidden under the seat) and it lasted through summer and winter in Central California.
However, the lights on it are starting to fade on one side and it doesn't have a feature that others have where you can put a song in memory then scan channels for that song.
You'll want to search around to make sure you can get an adaptor for your unit in your car.

3. I have the Delphi Ski-Fi, and it goes EVERYWHERE with me |
|
I use it at work, at home, outside in the yard, on the beach, on vacation - it is wonderful. Sure makes work a lot more bearable.
I have a separate unit in my car, a fixed Pioneer tuner, but that's just because I bought it first, then decided I needed XM everywhere I went. Lots of Ski-Fi owners use their Ski-Fi in the car as well as in the home cradle and the boombox.
The newest Sirius unit finally offers something satellite radio fans have been desperate for for years - a walkman-type portable, one with a portable power pack.

5. I have the audiovox boombox for SIRIUS |
|
I absolutely love it - except it needs 8 D-cells (or be plugged in)
they seem to last for quite a while, but I do need to get some rechargeables
I take it to the garage, the pool, camping, - everywhere
I also have a auto unit for each car and the home unit that goes throught my Bose radio

6. We have the audiovox plug and play on Sirius |
|
You can use it in the home cradle(through your stereo), car, or boombox. We did have to get an antenna extension for home and even now the reception cuts out every now and then. (We're in College Park). I assume the ground repeaters work better in the city, but I believe that you still need to have the antenna outside. For Sirius info, I like www.siriusbackstage.com
