Any fans of A&E's "City Confidential" on board? |
|
I find that show very entertaining and informative. I like hearing about the seedy side of the big (and not-so-big) city.

2. Yeah! Paul Winfield is so over the top!!! |
|
I freaked when I saw Austin on TV (Madalyn Murray O'Hair) as well as San Antonio (Woody Harrelson's dad killing the federal judge).
Calling SiouxJ - she's the other junkie I know of. :-)

10. I'm here!!! And we thought we were the only ones!! |

I've been hooked for a long time now. Paul Winfield kills me. I love the way he lays down those corny puns! It's just so well done. I think one of my faves was the Salem MA one. Any time there's witches involved you know it's gonna be good ;-) . But really, the smaller towns are more fun I think. I watch it every night at 6 when I get home. Goes great with dinner and a glass of wine. I can't wait for the next marathon! I'll be camping in that weekend :-)

Although all of the others didn't exactly suck.

13. Oh, you liked that one too?! |
|
I don't know, there was just something about the feel of that one. The beginning with all the history etc., was so cool. I think that's one of the best parts of the show. The first 15 or 20 minutes where they give you the history. I always learn something new.

15. You made me realize why I like this show |
|
I was trying to figure out why I like this show over the other ones about murder cases. This show doesn't just talk about the murder, it goes into the history and personality of the city.

with that great, almost Vincent Price sort of feel, really sets the mood. He just draws you in. He can make the most boring things sound interesting- lol. Also, the writing is great. Almost campy at times but it works.

26. THAT'S it! The Vincent Price feel of it! |
|
I love the show too, especially the first segment or so - learning the insider's view of an area. But I think you nailed it on the head, SiouxJ, it's the Vincent Price style that sets the mood!
I wondered if there were other's like me that were hooked on the show. :)

Am I imagining it or was there one done in Stephen King's hometown? I found it interesting that he uses real street names and real businesses in his books that are set in Castle Rock.

I agree with previous messages on Paul Winfield and also the one on Madalyn Murray O'Hair might be my favorite, too.

9. Definitely. Also heard Mr. Winfield doing a nature show on Discovery |

at 6 pm, meaning he was opposite himself. Kept expecting one of the animals to start investigating a nefarious woodland slaying.

how tasteful the backgrounds are when they are interviewing people? A nice fire, a pretty lamp. They aren't in these people's homes, are they? If they interviewed me you'd see a coke can, hairbrush, cat tail, etc.

I'm always looking at the "interview background," trying to figure out how they made a crappy room look good! It's sort of a game for me - lol. Having been in advertising, this kind of fascinates me. I really think they do interview them where they live, but they have some tricky lighting and placement of props. Also, you can kinda predict the outcome if the main person is in prison. Some prisons look pretty good but you can usually tell if that's where they are. ;-)
:kick: for the late night crowd CC fans.

one thing I really like is when they get into the hypocrisy of the "wealthy suburbs" where everything is Stepfordville - until the husband or wife kills the husband or wife and the whole thing unravels. Paul Winfield articulates irony like no other.
