good thoughts requested for Mom-of-Uly |
|
My mom (who's seventy) had her gall bladder out today. It was evidently a pretty nasty little thing. She's doing well, but they're keeping her overnight tonight for observation.
I don't often regret having moved away from Oklahoma, but I did last night and tonight. It would be good to be there.

1. I know what you mean...my Mom and Dad are 1200 miles away |
|
and it is hardest at times like this.
It sounds like she will be okay. Hugs to her...and you.

I know the hassles of having to move for work and caring for aging parents. Sounds like she'll be okay tomorrow...

5. I'll keep you and your mom in my thoughts, Uly. |
|
My older sister, who's in her fifties, had this done a year or so ago. She's also a Type2 diabetic, and doesn't always heal as quickly as somebody who isn't, but she was back on her feet in a couple of weeks. Hope your mother has the same or better experience.

And some for you as well. I know what it's like to worry about a parent's health, and I know it's much harder when you're not nearby. Take care of yourself, and keep us posted on your mom's condition!

12. Everyone I know who's had this done |

felt awful before the surgery, got through it with flying colours (and some had it done before laproscopy), and felt fab afterwards-better than they had in ages. Your mom will do great, she'll feel much more peppy than she has and we'll all keep a good thought for her! :)
and the older I get, the younger '70' sounds! :D

My biggest fear with things like this is her innate fear of all things medical that have to do with herself. When I was sick as a child, she was the trooper, but she's the kind of person who can't take an aspirin herself without a minor production. :)
Love my mom. Thanks, y'all. :loveya:

My mom had the same thing-- laparascopically-- and it was a very quick recovery. She still keeps the rock, which does look hideous-- in a bottle.
But then my mom never throws ANYTHING away. :eyes:
