The kitten nursing on the dog is starting to seem a little freaky to me

They play, then the kitten nurses. They play, then the kitten nurses. All day long.

The dog seems to like it, as does the kitten, although no milk is there...I guess it's the equivalent to a pacifier.

1. she is a kitten, she needs her mommy. remember that.

3. Yesterday, I took her to see her mommy.

The mom lives with my brother. The mom cleaned her a little while, and then showed no interest. The kitten showed little interest in mom, and didn't try to nurse.

I think she has imprinted on my schnauzer, as if she considers the schnau her mommy now.

Wish I know more about pet behavior and psychology, because they are funny to watch together, and I'd like to known what some of this means to them.

2. We had an adult female cat that "nursed" on the male cat all the time.

They both seemed to like it, and they would both purr loudly whenever they did it. I'd hear them from the hallway, and sure enough, it's nursing time!

The nurser was one of the very coolest cats I have ever known.

4. The kitten is very cool. She sleeps nestled into my shoulder every night.

The dog stretches out curled around her and my head....the dog is a small mini schnauzer.

Lucinda, the schnau, actually does a doggy moan/grunt thing while the kitten nurses and kneads her stomach. It's a funny sight. :-)
