My editor may've lost my indie film from his harddrive. Ask me anything.
Especially if you know anything about Data Recovery.

2. Oooh. Data recovery is SOOOO expensive!
...to do it right, that is. You have to hire folks who specialize in it.

5. I am so sorry!
I lost my entire hard drive a few years ago...years worth of work...
I thought I was going to die! Hope you get all that hard work back.
Good luck!

7. thanks...
Worst case scenario is we have to edit all over again...3 months tops, plus I'd have to call my heinous ex-girlfriend to re-do some work.

9. I once lost my music partition
not MP3's, but my own music that I recorded over many years. I was ready to send the drive out to have the data recovered but decided to try a product called "File Scavenger" instead and got 99% of the data back for $29.95. :) It was several years ago, but it's probably still available.

11. PC...Windows 2000(?)
External Harddrive...no grinding or heat. He's going to buy an identical harddrive and replace the board.

12. Do you have system restore??
Being a Windows system, you should.

Go to Start, choose Programs, the Accessories, then System Tools, and it should be in there. Follow the instructions and it's like a time machine for your hard drive.

14. Is it a Dell?
Does he want someone to write an angry letter for him? Cause I've had some practice.

Good luck,
