Need a snappy retort...
...because I am sick of using the same one for this.

Seems the Rush/Hannity/Oliely crowd has been using the old "liberals are acting like pre world war 2 England in wanting to ignore Saddam like they ignored Hitler, and you see the price the whole world paid" when justifying the current bloodbath in Iraq.

I like to slap them back with the standard "Hitlers dominion at it's height, stretched from Russia to the English Channel, while Hussein could not even control the whole of his own country EVEN when he was getting spoon fed ammo and weapons from Reagan's administration. Not to mention, that the U.S war department preemptively invaded a sovereign nation, and as we speak are installing several permanent military bases within it's borders, and are cranking up the propaganda machine to whip the people into yet another jingoistic fervor to invade invade the neighboring countries, as soon as those bases are operational. Oh, the conservatives are correct, someone in power is acting like Hitler in the thirties in the ME, but I do not think it was Hussein"

I'm getting tired of that one though. Any other retorts you guy's know for the "ignore Saddam like they ignored Hitler", one that seems to be making the rounds lately?

2. hitler
enjoyed mass support, especially among the eugenics community of the USA

hitler presided over an economic upswing that benefitted his supporters at the expense of the german lower class

hitler received passive support from the catholic church

hitler received overt support from prescott bush, who made money from arms sales to the nazis (might be disputed, but there is supporting evidence for this)

hitler enjoyed theoretical support from the british royals
