The same reason why men don't like to see penises on women . Why ? Because women should be women, and men should be men. Long hair IMO is a vital part of feminity.

Some women are just just 'naturally feminine' without even being aware of it, and they don't try to force it on your face. Those are the ones with the most appeal.

Don't ask me why ... it is a matter of taste, I think, and that varies between individuals. I'm a guy with hair down to my butt. Some women love it, others don't.

But then, I am more artistic in that it depends on a woman's facial structure and head shape/size. Hair is like a picture frame and you don't use the same frame for every picture.
Practically speaking, hair that is too long gets in the way often, clogs sinks and drains, and you find it all over the place!

I think you like both blondes and brunettes (and probably redheads too) I think you like smart girls, but they also have to be pretty I think you like the girl next door, as long as she's pretty (but you wouldn't say no to a cheerleader if she was drop-dead gorgeous, at least for a date or to post a picture here and oogle over her)
Now, be honest... how'd I do? :D

But some women look GREAT with short hair. Like most others said, it depends on the person. The woman I'm dating has hair down to the small of her back, but one I dated a couple of years ago had very short hair, only down to the nape of her neck and on her, it was perfect.

Looks like I'm probably in the minority, but I really like short hair on women. I've dated a couple of women who had short hair, and they were damned sexy. They were really confident, too, though, which I also find attractive.
FWIW, I had long hair in college and while we were on the subject one day, was actually told by a friend's girlfriend that she'd never date a guy who had prettier hair than she did.

Like a Beatle haircut or that one famous ice-skater, Dorothy Hammil, I think it was. The women I fell in love with who had those haircuts were damned hot. Whenever I hear a guy say women should only have long hair, I tell them they are nuts.
I could tell you even more but I don't think Skinner likes DU to get salacious, so I will stop here. But short hair on women is fine by me !!
ps- Long hair is fine to and I have fallen in love with women with long hair. Hair length just doesn't always matter much to me.

ANY statement that tries to encompass something as broad as an entire gender is ALWAYS a myth.
Some men, maybe most, but certainly not ALL, like women with long hair; others prefer short, still others would look at this idea as a case-by-case question-answer.
I only like long hair if it is thick, and well-cared for and even under those circumstances, there is such a thing as too long.
I've also known women who look fabulous with short hair.

53. Some women with very short hair I find exceptionally attractive. |
|
As it was said above by Matrix Escape, it depends upon a woman's face and head shape.
For me, it may also be that because I don't often see women wearing very short hair, I find myself exceptionally attracted to some women with very short hair. I find it especially stunning when a woman looks good with a more boyish haircut. I think it's the "exotic is erotic" principle in play.
That said, I'll echo Misunderestimator's remarks that no woman, or man for that matter, should base her/his happiness on others' perceptions of their physical beauty (so long as they don't endanger themselves by not taking physical care of themselves, of course). However, I also don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to look pleasing to others.

Some women can pull off short hair, but IMO short hair on women makes them look mannish.
What I really hate is (at least from what I've personally witnessed) is that women with long hair can't wait to hack it off as soon as they get married. Nothing bums me out than seeing a woman that had sexy long hair suddenly show up looking like an army recruit. It's like as soon as they get married its like they think "well I don't need to look attractive anymore, and if my man complains then everyone will bash him for being shallow".
It's really a catch 22 for men, we WANT you to have long hair but there's really no way to say so without sounding like a caveman.

Of course, what I hear fom women in my target group (40-55)is pretty depressing: "Oh, I'm GLAD I cut that shit off! it was a HASSLE keeping it up" (from a woman who used to wear a pageboy and traded it for a bi-level)
Or "I think it made me look older" (how do you figure that? Take a random group of 70-y-o women and I'd bet only 1 in 20 has long hair. So if all 70-y-o women have short hair, doesnt that make you look 70 if your hair's short?)
What it tells me is that a woman has fallen completely out of touch with her feminine side. That or she's Butch.

My hair is longish and people often tell me it looks nice, but it doesn't mean a women with short hair can't be extremely beautiful. I feel more comfortable in my very femme looking state, but that's me, my preference and I wouldn't presume to be everyone's type. Women need to be themselves and be secure in the fact that there's someone out there who will think they're beautiful as they are.

but I've been told it's a very sexy cut and really fits me. Very very long bangs that sometimes fall over one of my eyes. A little spikey in the back, at the bottom. Thick, very straight, and nicely colored with highlights. I pay a lot to keep it that way, LOL!
Mr. Moonbeam ALWAYS loved long hair on me but when I got this cut, he went freaking insane over it, made me promise I'd never grow my hair out again.
I've never been accused of not being or looking feminine, either.

I love women with long hair, and I mean like down to top of her hips, and mildly unkempt. Hot.

It would be more like naked in the middle of Times Square.

83. Me too. I have really long, thick blonde hair, |
|
the same style as the girl in DS1's post, in fact. I get a lot of positive comments from both men and women, especially when I dye it red (hell on my hair-but it looks great)!
My hair actually grows in wavy on the left side, straight on the right. The length hides that fact, so it's much, much easier than short hair for me.

Short hair can be cute, but long flowing locks are sexy. But not down-to-your-ass long. Shoulder length to maybe 6 inches longer than that.

why? dont know. probably something to do with genetics. however, many women can look perfectly beatiful with short hair. i think it really depends on the person, and the individual short hair style

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on your perspective, my hair length has never been an issue of femininity or fashion, but practicality.
Until I was 30, it was long. I cut it short for convenience, because it's easier to groom and be ready to go without much time or attention. It was "cute." I left it short for a decade, then suffered a head injury w/skull fracture. I was hypersensitive about having my head touched, so I wouldn't let anyone near it with scissors for 3 years. It grew long. I braved the scissors once to have it neatly trimmed. These days, I've left it long because I'm working such an intense schedule I don't want to add frequent haircuts to everything else I keep up with.
The front of the crown is gray. The rest of it is sort of golden/reddish (light) brown. It stays pulled back or tucked up to keep it out of my face and out of my way most of the time; if my schedule ever slows down, I'll go back to short.
I've never doubted my femininity; my hair is window dressing, not who I am!

90. Forget the hair. BRAINS & spunk are what make a woman attractive. |

92. MrG loves long hair on me. Which is okay because I prefer it myself. |
|
If I wanted to get my hair cut, I would not let MrG's opinion stop me...although I do think it might interfere with our "night" life.

94. I don't think I communicated what I meant to; I like long hair on |
|
myself and I don't care what other men think. My son and husband think it looks great, but I wouldn't change it for someone else!!!!
I am an individual and I do what I feel comfortable with; what other folks think, well, I'm afraid that doesn't matter a whole lot.
