Dodgers/Cardinals game thread
I'm taking the Cardinals. They're not my team, but the Reds didn't make it this year. I guess I gotta go with the red theme. I'm also rooting for the Red Sox.

1. Red Sox/ Cardinals....now that would be a great series
I imagine many here in Red Sox land would like to see the Astros with Clemens but I doubt he would ever pitch in Fenway. Sox and Cardinals have some history with '46 and '67. Now let's hope the Red Sox finally can get by the Yankees....the team no one wants to see in any series.

4. I had forgotten about 46
but yes it would be great, and remember those all went to 7 games too.

2. Heh, Kerry mentioned that at his post-debate rally.
He said something along the lines of, "We might have ourselves a World Series this year...Red Sox vs. Cardinals. I'll forgive you if you forgive me."

:)

5. Dodgers get a home run from Werth. 1-0 Dodgers
They're still batting in the bottom of the first.

Suppan better settle down he almost had another cranked on him that was just foul.

Sorry, but I have been a long time fan since the 70s. Is the game on ESPN?

9. Reggie Sanders belts one for the Cards. Ties it 1-1.
Sanders got his start with the Reds back in the day. It's good to see him doing good.

11. Yeah he's been around
When he first came up I thought he was going to be the next home run king. The guy is built like a tank. But if I remember correctly he struck out a lot and only put up average power numbers. Still he's a pretty good player, though, and I think he has improved as far as striking out goes.

16. Kickin' for the Cardinals.
The only NL team I can root for this year. I guess that means I've forgiven them for giving me an adolescent jolt when they popped the Brewers in seven back in '82. Still, overall, I gotta push for the Red Sox to get things out of the way, for once in a couple of lifetimes.

21. as the great Orioles manager and St. Louis Native Earl Weaver said
"The key to winning baseball games is pitching, fundamentals, and three run homers."
Which is true, since three run homers can give you a lot of sweet momentum.

22. The #@!* Cardinals are the best lineup
in baseball from 1-8. They have no let up. I mean Larry Walker batting second? Man oh man. As a Cub fan I'm kinda jealous.

If they just get mediocore pitching it's a safe bet they're going to win.
