Well, I took one for the team today.

I was out puttingg up 4x8' Kerry-Edwards signs. We put them on a 2x2 frame, pound a couple of steel fenceposts into the ground and wire the framed sign to the posts--usually about a fifteen minute operation.

BUT--I ran into some hard ground--and I was hammering harder with my driver, essentially a 20 pound steel pipe with handles. I got too rambunctious, and the driver came off of the fencepost and caught me square on the top of the skull.

It just about knocked me out. My buddy grabbed me as my knees buckled. Another worker sort of exclaimed that I was bleeding, and I put my buddies glove onto my head and applied pressure.

Well, that was the end of sign mounting for the day! I ended up in Urgent Care getting about 25 stitches in a 3" cut that runs from just above my eyebrows to the top of my head.

I think I'll take a photo and send it to the campaign. But for now, I just wish I could sleep!

I don't knwo why sleep is bad for possible concussives, but I do know it is.

I wouldn't have a concussion. I didn't lose consiousness at all, and after two hours wasn't showing any singns of concussion (It took awhile to drive in from the site).

I have to say one thing, though, about the crew at Urgent Care. For whatever reason, they all (a half-dozen or so) had to look in on me as I had my one-hour suture session. All of them gasped at the gash, which, frankly didn't hurt as badly then as now (the Doctor said it was the best one of the month!). But all of them--

ALL OF THEM!!

--said they were Kerry supporters, even the Doc, who said he'd vote for John McCain in a heartbeat.

Pretty darned good news coming from our local health care providers. I guess they aren't falling for that tort-reform trial lawyer crap out here in Washington.
