4. if true he died a hero |
|
in his fight for stem cell research, in his fight for funds for spinal cord injury research, in his willingness to risk his body and health to subject himself to experimental therapies, and most of all as a truely heroic spokesperson for the advancement of scientific research ahead of the interests of the drug companies. His books are inspirational, and he is too.
RIP

i can't stand freepers politics. but i know sometimes on du people say things that i don't like but the right wing uses it to paint all liberals as being a certain way. so i'm not going to do that here.

31. To be fair, most of them are trying to keep politics out of it |
|
I think it's hard for most people, Freepers included, to hate Superman. Most posters seemed genuinely sad to hear the news.

18. I screen captured and bookmarked that |
|
and I've never done that with a freeper thread before, I hardly bother to go there at all, even when people here talk about it.
But I want to keep that to remember how truly soulless those bastards are. Just look at their comments and you'll see what I mean. The really respectful ones are totally outnumbered.

13. Let us remember his example |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 12:42 AM by ZombyWoof
He was a wonderful human being who turned an enormous adversity into a model example of perseverance, optimism, and compassion for the rest of us to emulate. We can only hope we would be 1% as strong in similar circumstances.
He will always be the real Superman, and I am not talking about his most famous role.

I usually feel sympathy when a celebrity dies. But, every once in awhile, one will really get to me, and this is one time. My first thought was watching Superman on the big screen when I was little. He was always Superman to me growing up, no matter what else he did in his career. After his accident, he showed how truly heroic he was in real life with his advocacy for the disabled and stem cell research. The ad that shows him walking with special effects had me in tears. :(
