It's very symptomatic of how Americans are viewed in many places in the world - the Bushies are only exacerbating that view......

1. When I was younger...

My cousin, sister and I went down to Juarez. When I tan, I get really dark. I guess this American couple mistook me for a native, so they offered me a quarter to snap their picture. It was pretty funny. Americans behave like condescending, arrogant assholes in most places they visit.

2. I had a friend that grew up on Yakota AFB in Japan

And although he is 100% American, he hated most American Tourists. He took the time to learn some Japanese customs, their Culture and he even spoke some Japanese. He was appalled at this country. It was kind of entertaining to hear him rant about "American Dogs".

3. Knee-jerk nationalism, something you'd expect Frank Burns (M*A*S*H*)

to say.

4. It's very sad, but I'd reckon

that the majority of Americans aren't like that - they aren't swaggering imperialists. But unfortunately it's the truly ugly ones who are the loudest and get the attention - impressions which last a long time.
