2. Undoubtably crap.

"Hi, I'm a fake doctor, but since I took a marketing course disguised as psychology, picture this non-sequitor."

For the most part your body has a certain weight it wants to be and there's not much you can do to change that except within 7-10 pounds either way. The best thing is to just eat well, and be active.

4. Don't waste your money on stuff like that.
If it were truly a breakthrough, they wouldn't be doing those expensive, national TV commercials. For as long as there have been human beings, there have been snake oil salesmen.

I have struggled with a weight problem all my life. I have tried every diet and pill in the world, up until recent years. I have concluded what you know in your heart is true: The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat less, eat a variety of healthy low-calorie foods, and to exercise regularly (for metabolism, health, and muscle building). That is the ONLY WAY to lose weight and keep it off. THE ONLY WAY.

Diet pills help temporarily, if you can handle the side effects. There are natural products to help speed up your metabolism (like Green Tea). And exercising for strength, using weights and such, increases muscle, which increases your metabolism.

But in the end, no matter what you do, no matter what you take, you have to eat less, eat healthy foods, and exercise. There is no short cut.

(I say this after spending God knows how much money on diet plans, books, and pills in my lifetime. Maybe you have to do the same until you reach the conclusion I have. Of course, if you are morbidly obese, that is a different kind of problem. You may want to consider one of the surgeries available for that these days. My ins. co. at work pays for it, for people who are morbidly obese and have other health problems resulting from it.)

7. DIY Cortislim
It's fifty bucks a month for the low dose program. And it's made from fairly cheap ingredients. Many of them have been demonstrated to enhance weight loss, but you must exercise and diet, too.

Here's what it has, with some notes for making your own:
-Vitamin C (as Calcium Ascorbate) 100 mg -- Available everywhere.
-Calcium 150 mg -- Available everywhere.
-Chromium polynicotinate 40 mg -- Widely available. Fairly cheap. Effective in reducing insulin resistance, well-studied.
-Green tea extract about 100 mg -- Widely available, cheap, effective.
-Bitter Orange Peel (synephrine) about 25 mg -- Widely available. Fairly cheap. Be careful, this is a stimulant analogue of Ephedrine.
-Banaba leaf extract (corosolic acid) 16.5 mg -- Available as GlucoTrim from NOW vitamins, $15/60 gels of 24 mg. Effective in reducing insulin resistance; has the most promise of all these ingredients.
-Vanadyl sulfate 5 mcg -- Widely available, moderately expensive. Effective in reducing insulin resistance.

Take 2-6 times a day.
Ref: http://www.cortislim.com/ingredients.htm
Note that when I say "effective", it means that it has been demonstrated to be effective, though in some cases, only by two or three studies. And not for everybody! So it might not be effective at all for you.

By the way, the only ingredient that actually lowers cortisol is the vitamin C. The other stuff reduces insulin resistence, which will usually cause a 2-5% weight loss in obese people; but Glucophage (metformin) works better.

My experience: I take corosolic acid, 48 mg/day. It keeps my blood sugar more stable. I've tried most of the other stuff, and it probably helps a little, but I never noticed much of a difference. I also eat as healthy as I can afford, and exercise.

You'd do just as well to eat more vegetables and get more sleep.

And my usual advice and disclaimer: Study it before you eat it.
