Go ahead and snicker, especially you macho gentlemen! But I've been in love with Barry for thirty years (I was nine when "Mandy" came out), he's a great, caring liberal and he gives a great concert, so there! And my macho teenage son is very happily accompanying me, too, so there! (we both attended the last Cleveland concert of his nearly three years ago).

And one of the things I've always liked about him is that his songs cover every possible situation that happens in love and relationships, things that happen to everyone at one time or another in relationships. Now, if I could just figure out how to sneak backstage afterwards and find his dressing room! Hey, if 55-year-old Billy Joel can marry a gal 32 years younger than he, who wasn't even born when his really well-known great hits came out, then there shouldn't be any problem with 58-year-old Barry going for aaa 39-year-old who really remembers all of his hits when they were hits!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

So go ahead, flame away. I'm in such a good mood right now, I just might even enjoy it!!!!!!

13. Thanks! But even if you don't like
his music, you'd love his politics as well, he's a staunch liberal Dem who supports some great causes.

8. she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar
Across a crowded floor, they worked from 8 till 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?

At the Copa, Copacabana (Copacabana)

4. Hey this 34 year old punk has no shame in his appreciation for Barry
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 07:25 PM by vi5
In fact on my ipod shuffle this morning, Mandy came on in between Thirsty and Miserbale by Black Flag and Orgasm Addict by the Buzzcocks.

On Edit: I would also add that I think that there may be another obstacle in your happily ever after with Barry that has nothing to do with your age.

And what would that obstacle be, pray tell? (Besides the fact that I would have to get past about a million other gals first, of course!)

15. Actually, I don't think he is.
He was married once and has had girlfriends. I think people tend to think that men who show their emotions and write and sing the kind of songs he does are gay, but of course, that isn't true. But even if he is, (HUGE SIGH!!) that's his business and I still love him anyway!

19. I dont think there's anything wrong with it obviously....
But I have some family friends and relatives who were.....ahem...."active" in the gay club scene in the 70's particularly the ones he used to play as Bette Midler's accompaniment.

Either way, he's a great songwriter. My favorite overlooked song by him is Ships. I remember hearing him talk about how it was about his dad and being so upset by it.

23. I've always really liked that song, too!
His father left the family when he was very young, and he had very little contact with him after that which always affected him. That's why he dropped his father's name, Pincus, and used his mother's maiden name, Manilow.

Your lucky brother! I have also heard of lot of funny, neat stories about him and it really does seem like he's a great guy. Frankly, I'd give anything to know him personally, but then, what are the chances of that? Probably the same as Shrub admitting he lied about Iraq so he could invade it and control the oil!

So tell me--is he really gay, or is that just bullshit? I think it's bullshit myself, but who knows?

26. Ah, Billy Joel, that's another one
of my favorites and he also gives a helluva concert! At least he did when I saw him about eighteen years ago. Don't know how he'd be now after all the alcohol and drugs. "Goodnight Saigon" still gives me chills whenever I hear it, though. And his really early stuff, like "New York State of Mind" and "Captain Jack" are really classics.

But hey, if you don't want to have any taste, that's your business, I guess. And I still luv ya too!!!! BTW, can you believe it's been almost a year since the march in D.C. when we had our DU contingent marching together? Chris still remembers all of you guys.

I was all of 10 at the time, and they were at their disco-lizardo height, but they also played some of their folky-rock tunes too, which are vastly underrated IMHO.

Have a good time! :hi:

to the Bee Gees than just their disco-era stuff, and their non-disco music has definitely been underrated and overshadowed. I wish I'd been able to see them in concert.
