LIVE Vote for Change concert on now--Pearl Jam up, Dixie Chicks, DMB...
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 08:29 PM by tjdee
edit: Pearl Jam on now, again, "Live" in DC.
also edit: It's the VOTE for Change Tour. Duh.

Just another post to tell y'all that if you don't have Sundance on (if you have it), you're just a square, I say, a square.

They're doing various little interviews in between sets...one right now with Eddie Vedder and the other people doing the show, they're showing the protesters....so maybe "Live" is misleading, but I swear they just showed the stage and said "Live at the MCI Center, Washington DC" and REM just left the stage before the Vedder interviews.

Coming up: Pearl Jam (cause they're talking right now), Dixie Chicks (will be interesting to see what they say), James Taylor, Dave Matthews Band...

Grrrrreeeeat.

1. The music is live, the clips between bands are previously recorded
They're making a new film of the entire tour. Pennebaker (of Monterey Pop and Gimme Shelter fame) is involved, along with one other famous music documentary producer whos name escapes me right now.

REM's set rocked!

3. Takes that long to set up between sets???
Seems kind of weird but okay LOL.

Michael Stipe was looking as adorable as can be, lots of fun that.

I hope Pearl Jam does Glorified G, but if they don't I'll be okay. :)

Ah Sundance...Robert Redford's brainchild....

4. Most festivals I've been to average 15-20 minutes between sets
Usually they bring out an acoustic guy to fill the holes. But yeah, 15 minutes or so isn't unusual.

It's not like one band is coming out and plugging into the others amps :).

6. That's what I thought it was...
I haven't been to any festivals at all :(

but I pretty much thought it was exactly that-- that they just have to do a little adjusting, like when you drive someone else's car. Good to know, thanks :)

8. The roadies on this tour are fortunate, it looks like they have a rotating
carousel. They can start setting up the next band while one is still playing, then the equipment just rotates in the middle to get the next band into position.

It's still different amps, different drums, different keyboards and pianos, etc. It takes a while to set up :)

I wish I could have made it for the one down here in FLA. Unfortunately, 2 hurricanes later can't afford it! Stupid Jeanne & Frances.
Eddie Veder is HOTTTTTT

9. He's looking good with facial hair.
He's aged pretty well. Still has a fantastic voice.

"Cause the Haves have not a fucking clue."

12. That was the most emotional version of Masters of War I've ever heard
Especially the slightly modified verse of:

For threatening my baby
just born and just named (originally unborn and unnamed)
you ain't worth the blood that runs in your veins.

14. I have a crush on James Taylor.
I don't understand it at all, it's almost disturbing LOL.

The Dixie Chicks' FAMILIES were threatened?

That's compassionate conservatism for ya. :grr:

15. James Taylor next
I love that he is talking to the Chicks and telling them that he agrees with them. It was awful what the Media did to them. When was it that we couldn't disagree with the President anyway? Oh Yeah, when he stole the election . . .

Late-niters would be wise to tune in... Pearl Jam on now.

An amazing night of music. I'm blown away.
