If you were Miss America, what would your platform be?
I have a passion for the plight of the people of central america and south america, but after last night, I'm thinking I might have to focus on kid's with asthma - it's reached epidemic proportions.

8. Forget Miss America - What you want to go for is Miss Earth
From the Miss Earth Website

"MISS EARTH BACKGROUNDER

After establishing a track record in mounting world-class beauty pageants over the last decade, Carousel Productions Inc. decided to reinvent and improve the concept of beauty competitions for the new millennium. Because many people admired and aspired to be a beauty queen, Carousel believed beauty queens would be a good and effective advocate of worthy causes. To give life to this vision, Carousel organized and launched in 2001 the MISS PHILIPPINES and MISS EARTH Beauty Pageants, two beauty events whose raison d’etre was to have its candidates and winners actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of Mother Earth."

Let's see Miss America do that

21. At heart anyway.
Hopefully, by the time my grandchildren are running things, the rest of the country will "see the light". I don't feel as though the means of production should be run by the government itself, but I do believe the social safety-nets make for the betterment of society. You can be darned sure I'd rather have my tax dollars go to Head Start, school lunches, drug and alcohol rehab, free public post-secondary education, and so on than for increased weaponry and corporate bail-outs.
These damned "Conservatives" aren't even Conservatives in the true sense anyway. Corporate bailouts do not equate with a real and true free market. I feel that unbridled Capitalism is inherently dangerous to most of us as far as concentration of wealth in the hands of so few. The more things more along the more this country frighteningly resembles a odd blend of fascism and feudalism. :scared:

22. I totally agree. It's a shame the label has so much negative
connotation, as does the word liberal. I shock people when I tell them I consider myself to be a socialist, but then when I tell them what I believe (as you just did), they don't seem so surprised and, in fact, often agree with me.

14. Ending hunger and cleaning the environment.
If everyone gave up one meal a week and gave some of that food to a food drive, not only might we be able to erdicate hunger, but pewople would lose weight.

If we spent an hour less in front of a TV or computer each week, we could save our Planet and save on our electric bill.

Actually, it would be very broad (yeah, I know, punny), encompassing all the horrible practices against women the world over - female circumcision, stoning, forced marriage, and the epidemic of violence against women the world over, including here in the good ol' US of A.

Hi, 101er. :hi: Is Olivia any better, I hope?
