ARRRG!!! My mother in law just sent me that video of 9/11 with people |
|
jumping out of the buildings and captions like "She was someone's daughter" etc.
GOD that stuff makes me sick. All that "DON'T YOU DARE FORGET" crap.
HOW could I forget that? Isn't it a little insulting to assume I have forgotten something THAT big just three years later??? I don't have sudden onset Alzheimer's or something.
Geez, I'm sick of this crap. My father in law has SOMEHOW talked her into voting for Kerry but she still spews this crap.
I do NOT need to see pictures of people jumping out of the towers.
A) That is my greatest fear--falling to my death and I believe I have a full-blown obsessive phobia over it--just THINKING about something like that nearly makes me have a panic attack
B) WHAT is the purpose? So we can all sit around and be morbid and fearful?
FUCK that. Sorry, but that's ridiculous.

because in the body of the email, she said she "can't stop watching this video" because it just makes her cry and she wants to "remember their sacrifice."
It also comes with all kinds of quotes about letting loose the dogs of war and giving others their just rewards for our countrymen's "bloodied and mangled bodies."
Ick. I should have asked her what happened to OBL. I was too pissed to think straight.

2. I hated how those people were exploited |
|
I mean, they had to choose between burning in the most fiery fires or jumping out of a 100+ story building.
Remind your mother you haven't forgotten about what happened on 9/11 but for some reason Bush seems to have forgotten because he gave up on the guy who did 9/11 - Osama Bin Laden

Remind her that in the spring of 2002, when asked about Bin Laden, he said, "I don't know where he is and I don't really care. It's not that important." NOT THAT IMPORTANT, he said. Never mind that OBL, and NOT SADDAM HUSSEIN, was responsible for the murder of 3,000 innocent civilians. Oh, no, it's just not that important. And yet, he's supposed to be the one who's so compassionate, so caring, the only leader capable of remembering and avenging 9/11. BLECH!

Oh well OBL is probably dead and after all bush said he got 75% of aq.
Oh ok WHATEVER.
They are both voting for Kerry, solid, so I am hesitant to rock the boat too hard.

As if anyone could forget that! God, I get teary when I watch F911 and it's just a blank screen with that sound of the airplanes hitting.
I feel like I'm going to throw up now. Sorry, but your MIL is one sick chick.

the sad thing is she has NO IDEA how sick it is to send that around in emails. I told her what I thought about it and am probably going to start World War 4 (yet another one) within my husband's family, but you know what? I TOLD HER NOT TO SEND ME THAT SHIT.
I have asked her and asked her and asked her (NICELY!) not to send me political emails. She probably doesn't consider that political.
URG.

17. See, that's the thing, |

I also have freeper relatives who just will not stop stirring the shit. They KNOW the reaction they're gonna get from me and certain other family members and they just insist on continuing to stir the shit. Then they have the nerve to get angry when they get the very reaction they were hoping for by stirring the shit. They love to rant and rave about "free speech", then get mad when we try to get a word in edgewise.
So, you know what? I don't care anymore what they think, I let them have it instead of sitting, smiling and shutting up like we all used to do when the family freeps would let go with one of their tirades. The last straw was when my ultra-freeper stepsister and her husband started in about public schools and teachers during a family Thanksgiving dinner last year; my mom and stepdad, my stepsister's FATHER, for Christ's sake, are retired teachers.
I really let them have it then, which surprised them because they were used to our just shutting up and taking it because we didn't want to "cause problems or a scene" as my mother said. But even she's had enough and won't shut up anymore. We've been too nice for too long, she says, and that's always been the liberals problem. And no more.

18. I know a lot of families this is happening to |
|
my best friend sucked me into her family drama, because she knew I'd stand up to her BIG time freeper aunt and I did, with my best friend aND her parents' blessings.
once I started, my best friend and her mom and dad all started piping up (they were all so sick of it) and she got dog-piled by the four of us. At a fourth of July celebration, no less. She ended up pitching a teary fit but none of us even cared at that point. I'll never forget my best friend's mom telling this woman (her sister in law) "Oh shut up, we're so OVER you!"
LOL!

I started to write back a really smart ass response, like "um, now refresh my memory again, was that ya'lls anniversary or something?" but got too disgusted to even be smart ass about it and just told her what I thought, straight up.
All hell's gonna break loose again. WHY does she not LEARN and stop sending me that shit? I am NOT the type to just hit delete and not say anything. When will she learn?????

Stop rubbing it in! LOL!
My parents are actually a bit on the liberal side, especially my dad. It's my inlaws who are freepers, who are, amazingly voting for Kerry. My father in law has a bit more sense than my mother in law and has become disgusted with bush and grudgingly accepting of Kerry. Mother in law just votes how father in law votes, but she still has the freeper mentality that drives me nuts. (Oh and her black jokes are just SO much fun! :eyes: ) Fortunately they live 1100 miles away and we haven't seen them in four and a half years.

I know someone who jumped out of those buildings on 9/11, not someone I was very close with, but an old acquaintance I had plenty of respect for anyway. I knew a couple others as well who died in those buildings I used to go to school with. Years ago, my dad worked on the 63rd floor of tower 2. I don't talk about it much, but I remember being a kid and visiting him there and just how cool it was. Hard to believe it's gone. Hard to believe how so many suffered. Hard to believe the right has used this for purposes of exploitation.

I used to work in Lynne's Hallmark in the WTC back in the 70's. Every day, after work, I'd go up to the observation deck to point out landmarks to tourists and talk to them about NYC.
Watching the exploitation of this tragedy sickens me.
