Poll question: Do you believe in ghosts
 curious
Ok Ive seen some shit so I am gonna be voting the second opition. Lemme tell the story. So me, my brother, and a friend were walking at and around the high school one night and I saw something at the nearby graveyard that looked like a man but it was dressed like I can't really explain this but it wasn't dressed like how a man would dress. Oddly enough Ive never experienced anything strange in my grandfather's room which I would sometimes nap in, he lived in that house and ghost experts say they return to where they lived and I never felt my grandfather's presence in that house.

1. I've had a couple experiences
Unfortunately one seldom has the opportunity to prepare for these things so I had no means of recording what was going on.

Theory has it, by the way, that the spirits of the dead "return" only when they can't or refuse to go on ... and most do. That's just theory.

As for what I experienced ... call it a "ghost" 'cause I don't know what else to call it.

3. sometimes
Its such a subjective thing and I can never be 100 % sure, but I have had experiences that did not make sense in an old house my maternal grandparents lived in.

4. Other
I do not beleive that the spirits of the dead return in any way shape or form.

However, I've seen things I can not explain and believe that there are some things that need more serious investigation (as opposed to fake TV "parapsychologists"). The world is not the neat Newtonian clockwork that we learned about in school.

While I personally don't believe in ghosts as the spirits of the dead, I *love* a good ghost story. I come from an area with a lot of ghost stories. It's part of the culture here. In a way, I think rural areas are more prone to ghost stories because of the isolation (especially in winter).

On Edit: For a great modern ghost story, read Abandon In Place by Jerry Oltion. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0312873166

8. When my son died, we had a "pact" that he would come back to let me know
that he was okay. He didn't come back to me; instead he came to my boyfriend, while he was driving. He told him to tell me that he loved me, to tell me that he was okay and was in heaven with "Rook" . That was it. The ONLY person I would ever believe, if they told me something like this is my (now ex) boyfriend. He simply doesn't have enough imagination to make something like this up. Plus, after the experience, he TOTALLY changed his life, becoming very spiritual. Just a completely different person.

My dad has had a couple minor things happen (felt a cold spot in the house that his father used to live in; old ambulance engine suddenly turning on when he was young,) but not me. Many times, I visited the house my grandmother died in, but nothing happened. She would be a very nice presence anyway.

12. yeah I would imagine my dad's dad would be too
We were discussing that Bush and co are motivated by what benefits them and them only and he mentioned his dad who I never knew as someone who fought for the common person.
