*groan* I am going to make my World Series prediction right now.
My happiest possible outcome would be a Red Sox/Cardinals World Series, with a Sox victory. It'd be great for baseball, and it'd be a great matchup, and I'd be able to die in peace.

But it isn't going to happen that way.

Houston will defeat the Cardinals in the NLCS.

Boston will defeat New York in the ALCS.

Babe
Bucky
Buckner
Boone
Bagwell

The player we traded away many years ago will murder us in the Series, break our backs, and Houston will win the World Series.

Babe
Bucky
Buckner
Boone
Bagwell

Historically, it's seamless.

You heard it here first.

5. Hard To Believe You Are Abandoning Your Sox
Being a Braves fan who expects to lose in the post season- I am reduced to hating the Yankees- therefore pulling for the team from my father's home town- go Red Sox

10. I am abandoning nothing
I plan to scream myself hoarse watching every pitch of every game. I am wreathed in hope...but I am from Boston, and I've been here a long, long time.

19. The bricks of Boston are paved with blood of BoSox fans and anyone who
goes there has trod upon the hopes and dreams which spring eternal..

Not dissing you Pitt...but it's true. Hubby goes to Boston and feels he walks with the ghosts of dreams...

there's no way in hell anybody's going to stop them this year.. I can't remember the last time I saw such a well balanced team.

7. Let's beat the Yankees first, but after that....
Schilling and Pedro are blowing everyone away. Sox will rule. Finally.

The curse of Babe Ruth will end when the Red Sox light up Clemens in game 7 of the World Series.

18. I am so upset with Roger...He turns out to be a Repug! It was bad enough
that he moved over the the Yankees...but the BoSox weren't nice to him...so I forgave him..but then to RUB OUR NOSE IN IT? Didn't he just do a fundraiser for that Texas Idiot that's installed in the WH?

He has so much talent. He almost had the BoSox win World Series...and he turns...and becomes...THEM.

I tell you I'm glad I hate pro sports...but I have to listen to this because I love my hubby...but otherwise...I would tune it out and go "Lalalalalala."

But...as a Dem who loves "lost causes" I still keep one ear open and am ROOTING!

GO BO SOX!

I'll let Kerry win, but the Sox will have to go another century without a championship...do you take it, huh? Do ya???

16. OMG...that poor Buckner....I never watched baseball again.... and I think
his life was ruined because he ran afoul of the "Curse."

I will not tell my RedSox fanatic hubby your awful prediction. He told me the other day when I was grumbling at him to "give up his obsession" that he had to have some fantasy with all that's going on today.

I think it's better I shut up and let him have his fantasy...even if it freaks me out to see the "Curse" hang on once again, just when BoSox fans need it the most...

What a pump up it would be if they could pull it out though!

20. Noooooooooooo!!!!
It'll be Jeff Suppan (last year's supposed savior) who will do in the Sox in the World Series. But, I say that as a Cardinals fan.

God help us if Roger Clemens is in the World Series again...

21. Oh, I so hope you are right!
My sister and I were sharing memories last night about going to Colt 45 stadium. Our Mom was a major 'Stro's supporter while she was alive. She listened to every game on the radio and kept the box office scores of every game.

We made many trips out to the Astrodome while it was being built and used to take out of town guests on the tour of the dome.

If the Astro's ever win the pennant my sister has plans on putting a flower blanket on my Mom's grave in the Astro's colors. May be a bit macabre but I think my Mom would've gotten a kick out of it.

23. If they do meet
I want Larry Andersen to carry the six pack the Astros threw in to get Jeff Bagwell to throw out the first pitch just to make everything complete.

We still can't figure out what the hell the Red Sox were thinking on that one.
