Jewish/Kwanzaa songs for 3 and 4 year olds to sing?
Every December, I have to do a "holiday sing" with the 3 and 4 year olds I have to teach music to. The whole performance usually lasts no more than 10-15 minutes, but it's a big social event for the parents. Needless to say, the term "holiday sing" implies that there should be non-Christmas songs in the program as well (which is what I'd want to do anyway, being the open-minded multicultural kind of guy that I am).

"The solution is simple!", you might be saying to yourself. "Sing 'The Dreidel Song'!" That's what we've done for the last few years, and quite frankly, I'm sick of it. The head of the school mentioned that a Jewish parent said that if he never heard that song again, it wouldn't be a problem. I feel the same way.

So, I call on my intelligent and well-informed brethren here in the Lounge (particularly those with wee children)...what songs can I do instead?

1. How about a non-denominational song?
"Let There Be Peace On Earth (And Let It Begin With Me)" was very popular when I was a kid. Even mentions God. The "brothers all are we" language may need to be tweaked.

As is Frosty the Snowman. Very easy for small children to learn. They don't have to be holiday oriented per se, do they? Could they be just seasonal? :hi:

Edited: Well, if you caught the wrongly spelled words...oops!

3. winter wonderland is good
there's some other song about dreidels that I remember singing as a kid, but I don't know where to find it. Maybe some area witches will know some solstice songs for you?

5. I can't really go the "non-denominational" route...
Our ongoing theme is "diversity". We'll probably do "Jingle Bells" anyway, as it gives us an excuse to use jingle bells on pipe cleaners.
