The Red Sox Will Win In Five Games
Yes, I'm a Yankees fan, but the Red Sox are indeed the better team. They will win this series in 5 games. They have the best pitcher in baseball. They have two MVP candidates. They have a terrific bullpen, and a top notch closer. There's no way that the Yankees can play with this team. In fact, in head to head games, the Red Sox have beaten the Yankees.

So, congratulations to the Red Sox and their fans. Your long suffering nightmare will be over. Good luck in the World Series!

3. No, I'm Being An Honest Fan
The Red Sox are a better team. It's that simple.

4. I wouldn't be so quick to declare them the winners just yet
It's not like our (Yankees) bullpen is something to sneeze at...I admit, pitching could be better, much better...but I'm not throwing my towel in just yet...I want to see this series go to 7 games

6. We Lost This Series In The Off-Season
when we didn't sign Andy Pettite. If we had done that, Roger would have also come back. Also, Cashman erroneously believed that we could swing an in-season trade for Randy Johnson.

13. Pettite has been on disabled list for some time now, hasn't he?
And Roger is a prick...he said he was retiring, and then decided to make a few more millions, cause you know, he really needed that

18. Pettite Got Hurt Batting
Something that he wouldn't have to do in the AL. Second, the bigger negative of not signing him was losing Clemens as well. Roger would have returned if we had signed Andy.

15. Not re-signing Pettitte was a smart move
He only made 15 starts this year.

5. I think you're right--they just need one in New York, and I tend to think
they'll do that easily--might even take two. The Red Sox are certainly capable of sweeping at home. I just think they want it more, and the Yankees are thinking they have the curse on their side--it's like they believe in it more than the Red Sox this year.

what a base stealer!

on edit: of course they're totally going to lose to the damn yankees

I'm actually quite torn betwixt the two, so I'll be very sad for whoever loses.

10. IF, and I say IF the Red Sox win the ALCS...
...I don't know which will be more monumental: the celebration in Boston and the Red Sox going to the World Series, or George Steinbrenner going thermonuclear, and utterly destroying his club in a fit of anger and panic.

Steinbrenner has been known to make some desperate moves when clouded by rage. His extraordinary capacity for self-destruction really hasn't been tested in well over a decade.

It is entirely possible that a series loss to the Red Sox could result in the absolute crippling of the New York Yankees for a long, long time. He'll fire Cashman, maybe even Torre. Then he'll overpay grossly for aging veterans (think Kevin Brown, multiply 10 times), suck his farm system dry, and trade solid players for bright, shiny names. Paying $22-25 million/year to get Beltran is almost a lock.

In other words, if the Red Sox win this series, it is quite likely that in the aftermath, the Yankees will spend $225 million next year and go about .500.

17. You're right , the Sox have the pitching and hitting, however...
...the Yankees are able to just look at them on the other side of the field, and say "we own you."

They haven't been able to toss that monkey off their back in all these decades, and I would love to see that happen, but until it does...
