Actually I found a lot of *The Hours* very frustrating--the book *and* the movie. I felt like most of what people were praising *The Hours* for was the part that was ripped off from Virginia Woolf. I mean, the book is very well crafted and all that, but at the end I was still left cold by the characters. Plus I think the whole book is about his resentment of lesbians for having been relatively shielded from the AIDS epidemic, but that's another rant for another time.

24. What I found frustrating

is that the whole movie really had nothing to do with Mrs. Dalloway. I was expecting to see a story about how the work affected these three generations. As it is, The Hours could have turned on any other of Virginia Woolf's books as a plot device. I'm thinking specifically here if To the Lighthouse.

But that's my own lens, b/c I'm very deeply affected by things I read.
