How do I get Windows Security to SHUT UP?! |
|
The first time I installed XP-SP2, once I told it that, yes, I have my own firewall and so stop bugging me, it went away forever. Then I had to reinstall my system and everything, and no matter how many times I check "i have my own firewall" and/or "don't alert me if i don't have a firewall", it forgets and comes back when I start the computer every time. Is there a registry key this option is supposed to edit that I can change manually or something?

6. it's a good thing I manage to figure things out myself |

because -every- thread I ask for help, I get all these people "use a mac" or "use this" "use that" instead of what I have, and it -doesn't help-. For the record, I do use a Mac, used one for years back before OSX, and use a new one at 'work', and I'm quite happy to have my pc.

10. Hey, though I'm using a Mac at work |
|
I will not advise you to buy one. Just install linux ;-) (what I use at home). Linux won't (Slackware, anyway) install or configure crap you don't want.

and it's not even related! I did get foxfire, because everyone said I would love it sooo much and never want to go back. and, .. eh. *shrug*. With an OS that runs on IE, using another to browse the web with makes little difference, except personal preference. All IE's vulnerabilities are part of the system anyway.
