I sank my teeth into a kangeroo's rump yesterday...... |
|
Just thought I'd mention it...
Rare kangaroo rump steak....mmmmmmmmmmmm! Very tasty indeed.
Got taken out for lunch by my work, which was nice.

3. Well not "proud" per se....... |
|
This kangaroo was very nice indeed. Tender and with a similar texture to beef. However, the taste was quite "gamey", more like a venison than a beef steak.
Personally, I would have preferred a stronger tasting jus to be served with it - red wine + maybe redcurrant and rosemary.
This was SO much better than the kangeroo pie I had a couple of weeks back - I think the meat had been hanging too long, as it was so gamey it almost tasted off....ewwwww.

4. Mmm. I see your point. |
|
Some gin or a marinade refulgent of juniper berries can help take the edge of such a strong 'gamey' flavour. Still, one presumes you were in no position to pass along techniques d'cuisine to the chef.
One of the things I loved about the time I spent travelling was the culinary adventures. Now you can say you've tried it.

And so forth.....
Monty Python...marvellous.
Yeah. Gin might have done it nicely, in the sauce or in me!
