But I agree with jpgray-- Caravan was better. (I have the first five Camel records.)

However, Univers Zero is amazing! Vampire soiree music, perfect for the 2004 campaign season...

22. Comsat Angels
U2 nicked their sound and became superstars. The Comsat Angels lingered in relative obscurity for 17 years before finally breaking up for good in 1996.

"Sleep No More" is one of the lost classics of the post-punk era. Nearly every tune is guaranteed to make your hair stand on end-- and wonder why the hell you've never heard of them before.

The 'Sats guitarist, Steve Fellows, now manages UK superstars Gomez, and has played on their albums as well.

44. Diamanda Galas, she'll scare the hell out of you, and thrill
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 12:09 AM by jdjkkse
you too.

The "naked woman on the cross" that got so much play from the religious right a few years ago was none other than a naked Diamanda, this woman is a devi, a force of nature.

http://www.diamandagalas.com

"She plays the piano like driving rain slapping on concrete, and she sings like a demon going to war, a valkyrie scatting, a lizard queen seeking revenge for the dead...Galas is profound, rigorous, vocally unlimited, terrifying and utterly compelling. To hear her is to have your soul scoured clean.”
