Gateway monitor problem.

I bought a Gateway monitor, but have an AMD Athlon computer. Apparently, I need a special adaptor and have contacted Gateway, but they say they don't know anything about it. Any suggestions where I could get the adaptor? I have tried Frye's and they say it's a proprietary thing.

4. Oh, sorry, I forgot to say it's an LCD, and I asked the Gateway rep

sbout the Belken adaptor and he said he didn't think it would work, but he would have to see the computer connection before knowing for sure.

5. Did he ask you what the monitor's connector looked like?

And ask if you saw "this type of connector" (followed by a description) on the computer?

6. Yes he did, and that's when he said he didn't think it would work.

The guy selling the Belkin adapter also answered my email and said he didn't think it would work either. The guy at Circuit City said I would most likely have to change video cards (I'm computer illiterate so wouldn't know what to do with a video card), and the video card cost $130 - seems a bit high to me, but I may have to go that route.

7. can't believe they are still having problems with their monitors!

bought a gateway monitor, computer, the works, many years ago. the monitor was defective, and less than 90 days later they told me they'd allow me $20 toward the purchase of another gateway monitor. told them where they could put their $20 credit and their products. although not an elephant I NEVER FORGET! gateway does not stand behind its products.
