Should I buy The Day After Tommorow? |
|
Dvd came out today, and I never saw it. Is it worth buying the dvd? Or is it a renter?

I liked it, but it's not exactly "accurate". Rent it first.

Buy "The Day After" instead! Nuclear holocaust seems more relevant today! |

If that's what you want to see, I'd say it's great. Don't rely on the science or meteorology though...my son and his other meteorologist collegues say its crap.

8. depends on your past experiences |
|
If you have or even think you might have post-traumatic stress disorder due to past experience in a natural disaster, you might want to pass it by. I've had such an experience and it was extremely disturbing. Fortunately most of the film was snow/ice related and as my trauma is not related to that -- it is flood and wind related -- I was able to stick with the film and see it was just a bit of fun fluff. But if you have "issues" with tornados or wind disaster, the beginning of the film is extremely upsetting. It is a little bit campy and meant to be a fun film but it can trigger you if you've had an issue in your past. I would suggest renting and if you still want to buy, then buy.

9. It will undoubtedly wind up in my library |

I have a deep fondness for bad SF. It takes all the silly science weather you ever heard of and combines it into one shiny package.
The meteorological silly science is better, but only slightly better, than the geological silly science of 'The Core'.

really kicked some butt. I thought the tidal wave over NYC would be the kool part but it wasn't. We did pick it up today for 15.99.
