1. Don't mean to rub it in or anything, but did you really
think you could take one in the Bronx?

3. I think thats what about half of us are
If they call me a Yanks hater without reason, I dare show em this.

4. Jeffrey Maier's assist (Yankees vs. Orioles, 1996 ALCS Game 1)
A week after "Jeffrey's Bar Mitzvah World Series," the 12-year-old boy sitting in the Yankee Stadium bleachers caught Derek Jeter's 8th inning fly before O's right fielder Tony Tarasco could get to it. Umpire Rich Garcia, making one of the worst calls in sports history, awarded Jeter the game-tying homer. (Later, after viewing the video, Garcia admitted he "probably would have called fan interference.")

Tarasco couldn't believe what he didn't see. "To me it was like a magic trick because the ball just disappeared out of midair ... Merlin must be in the house."
I was 9 then, I am still not over it.

11. another red sox nose dive
Why torture yourself? Everyone knows that the Sox will find a way to lose. Even if the beat the Yankees, they'll go on to lose to the Cardinals in the Series and it'll be an even bigger heartbreak for Boston fans. I'd love to see Boston win it all, I'd love to see the Cubs win it all---but it's not going to happen.

14. The Yankees are the GOP of baseball
They represent greed, arrogance, smugness and a sense of entitlement that just comes off as a whining child.

Then again, the Yanks are owned by a whining child.

Lets Go Mets!!!!!

25. Actually, both the Sox and Yanks are arrogant prats..
..the "good" teams are Montreal, San Diego, places that couldn't afford Manny Ramirez or A-Rod if they shook down their fans every home game with a bunch of no-neck thugs with bats.

17. I can't sleep either so I'm smoking a brisket! Sure wish they'd pulled
the first pitcher after the first 2 runs. We were screaming at the tv to do that, but all of baseball is so goofy with their prima donna pitchers.

Eh, let 'em have the first game, and let the Sox take the series!

26. One bright spot if you're a Red Sox fan
I know they lost, but you've got to think positive.

The Red Sox took the best pitching the Yankees could throw at them and still scored seven runs. I think this bodes well for the Red Sox in this series. I know Mussina didn't have a Cy Young type season, but when he's on his game he's as good as anybody in baseball. And he proved that tonight by making the AL's most potent offense look like a bunch of little leaguers through six innings. But the Red Sox got to him.

Now you could say the same thing for the Yankees, but I don't think that it would be accurate. The Schilling that was out there tonight was not the same Schilling as he was in the regular season. He couldn't get his fast ball out of the 80s and his curve ball wouldn't curve. I think that ankle is really getting to him. I hope that in his next outing he can find a way to finesse the Yankees if he doesn't have his best stuff.

27. It will all be over in a week, and you'll all be watching the Yankees
in yet another world series.

Shilling's ankle will join the curse legend with Bill Buckner's bad knees.

Do yourself a favor - turn off the ALCS now, spend time on DU and start thinking about next year.

Yankees in 5.

29. I don't think so
I'm not going to call a winner, but I think this series has all the makings of a seven game series.

For the record I'm not a Red Sox fan, but I'm rooting for them against the Yanks. I just get tired of seeing the Yanks in it every year.

30. in New York, October is "Yankee Time" . . .
In Boston, October is "wait until next year" time . . .

nice comeback try, though . . . Boston has a great team, and this should be a classic series . . . if the Yanks don't win, I'll cheer for the Sox in the big one . . .

Go Bombers! . . . :)
