Wrestler Accused Of Stabbing Opponent 14 Times During Match
<snip>

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A professional wrestler accused of stabbing his opponent 14 times with a prop during a match has been arrested on a charge of aggravated battery.

Both wrestlers in the local Thunder Wrestling Federation event told police the prop was brought in as part of what in wrestling is known as "hard-core," where it is not uncommon to see such props as knives, chains, bats and barbed wire.

The Sunday event's promoter said it wasn't supposed to be hard-core.

Police charged Jerome Young, 41, of Smyrna, Ga., who goes by the ring name of New Jack, with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was being held under $40,003 bond Tuesday in the Duval County Jail. A court appearance was set for Nov. 2.

3. Uh oh what's this he...he seems to be pulling something out of his trunks
:eyes:

Back in the 80's wrestlers got paid $100 or so extra to bleed-witness the old pro's foreheads. The scraped them with a brillo pad and then covered it with vaseline and during the match they or the opponent would wipe the vaseline off thus exposing the wound to oxygen and the bleeding would begin. This doesn't seem to be the case here however.

5. And some people call wrestling "fake"
I'm sure the recipient of the 14 stab wounds wishes it was fake now.

6. New Jack has been in trouble before
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 08:45 AM by AngryAmish
New Jack claims to have killed several men (I think he was a bounty hunter) and everyone believes him.

He got in trouble before for this. A young wrestler never bladed before so he asked New Jack to do it for him. Well, New Jack sliced him open to the tune of 100 plus stitches. I saw the video. It was gruesome. I think he was tried for aggravated battery and beat the charge.

New Jack is stone crazy.

BTW, blading is wrestling-speak for cutting yourself. Usually done with a small razor blade taped in wristbands, then pulled out at appropriate time. The blood is real, folks. A small cut on the forehead does not hurt.
