HELP I'm going to commit caticide
Damn pissing bitch. I need the name of the cat repellent that was in the threads a while back, I think it was called feline away.
We have this psychotic siamese, that has been pissing on our bed, right where my pillow is, if I could have caught her the other day we'de be one cat shy this morning.
I don't want murder on my hands, right now I've got the door closed to keep her out, but, that won't work when it gets cold, so I've got to get this resolved,

1. the product is called Feliway
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 09:04 AM by Jen6
it comes in a small mist bottle or as a diffuser. I'd also recommend washing the marked area in another product called "get serious" before using Feliway.

4. Is this an environmentally responsible product, or a typical toxin....
...that will give the kitty a second head or third ear or whatever?

Reason I ask is that some friends of mine are having similar problems with their cat (a psychotic Burmese, I believe) and they also have 2 other cats, 2 dogs, and a 22 month old child, so they would be more likely to use a non toxic formula.

3. On your pillow? Ewwww. Get a new one and put a small cup of...
catfood (dry) on it when you're not using it. Make sure the litterbox is SUPERCLEAN (as i'm sure you know).

6. Do you have other animals?
Has there been a recent change in the occupants of your home? Cats don't handle change well and perhaps kitty is just acting out.

7. She could be telling you she's sick, too. UTI. Diabetes. Or just stress
as was pointed out.

She's either pissed (literlly and figuratively) or sick.

10. Nah, this cat is just psyco
she's always been in need of medication, kind of like the current squatter in the whitehouse. She has acted out in the past, and we were able to use behavior modification to correct it.

9. Have you taken her to the vet?
Sometimes, cats will start doing that if they know there's something wrong with them, like a bladder infection or something with the kidneys.

11. Have you had her checked for UTIs?
is the litterbox clean?

those are my primary issues with my 2 kitties.

if either of them starts pissing outside the box, it's either a UTI or the litterbox needs some serious help. otherwise both are quite fastidious about using the litterbox.

here's my catpee arsenal:

1 UV light
1 Spray Bottle Simple Solutions Cat pee and Odor remover
1 Spray Bottle Zep High Traffic Carpet Cleaner
1 Bottle Feliway

Steps for removing cat pee:

find the exact spot with the UV Light and soak area with Simple Solutions.

Cover with damp towel for 24 hours

Let spot air dry

Then scrub clean with Zep carpet cleaner and damp cloth.

Let air dry again, spritz with Feliway.

I'm sorry about the bed tho - that sucks. I've invested in a waterproof mattresspad that they use for bedwetters. That's definitely protected my mattress in the past.

Take the Kitty to the vet tho, if you haven't already. The peeing issue typically clears up within a day of them getting meds.

17. Since animal cruelty is becoming a felony in
more and more places, it'd probably solve a lot of people problems, too. Get the sick twists that might do this tossed in jail...with a great big hardass that misses his kitty a great deal.

13. you should also
clean the sheets w/ the enzymatic cleaner. I think it's called "Stainz Out" or "Odors Out" or something like that. They sell it at Petco.

14. I would take her to the vet
but if she's had emotional problems in the past it might be temperment.

Sometimes Siamese do better if there are fewer or no other cats, especially if they are not Siamese. It takes a lot of time as well to take care of a Siamese. If I don't give Pad Thai the attention he feels he deserves he gets diarrea of the mouth. He is very needy so I just give him lots of love. I left on a business trip and found a single cat turd by the door when I returned next to the chair I put my purse on when I come in the door. And that was when a friend came over and tried to give him attention while I was gone.

I got Paddy because two previous owners just didn't have the time for him, but I had always wanted a Siamese. It is a decision that you have to make though, because having a Siamese cat takes work. If you decide to find another owner for this cat, please do make sure they are familiar with Siamese and the care their temperment takes.

18. I don't want to harm her
I was speaking from anger, she's my wifes cat and aside from a few behavioral twists she's not a bad cat. I'll have to invest a little more effort on my part to straighten her out.
It probablly would be wise to find a spot for another litter box, for her to use. She's an indoor cat, scared of going outside, so that's not a solution.
So, I'm going to get the Feliway spray, and find someplace to put another box, she really needs to be the only cat.
