Why does everyone insist on blocking the food table?
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 09:36 AM by MissMillie
There's a big lounge in this building where our department has continental breakfast delivered every day. The room is HUGE--easily 30'x 45'. So why is it that PhDs and PhD students can't figure out that they should get their food (plates and napkins are provided) and then clear away from the table? I wanted to get a bagel but getting to the food feels like running the gauntlet.

It's bad enough that the MBA students in the dining hall stop in the doorways to talk; it starts out just 2, but then 3 more stop to say "hi" and then those attract 2 more and then there's no way to get through the door.

Why are people so CLUELESS?

/end of rant (I don't know what's up w/ me... sorry guys)

Their worlds end at the end of their noses.
Entitlement issues, and I'll bet you 50 bucks most of them are republicans.

2. Yup. That's it.
They want to be noticed and they figure the best way to get noticed is to stand in someone's way.

3. I say as loud as I can so they can hear me...
"The world does not end at the end of your noses. Please get out of the way of others. You are not the only one in this world."
People look at me funny, but it keeps me from losing my temper.

4. I said "excuse me" once
to some MBA students blocking the doorway, and one of them nearly bit my head off.

5. That's when you come back with...
"What is so hard and rude about asking you politely to move the fuck out of my way so I can go to my next meeting/class/etc?"
I'm sorry. I just have a big mouth and don't give a shit if people like me or think I'm a bitch.

1. oh man, i feel you pain
that is probably my biggest pet peeve: clueless people in the way.

is it so hard to be courteous and not block areas that other people need or want to get into?

6. For the same reason
they stop to rest and look around as soon as they get to the top of a crowded stairway, blocking the people behind them.

It's the same reason people wait to go into a revolving door by standing right in the middle of the doorway, instead of on the right-hand side.

It's why slow people walk on the left side of the street, and why people hold their umbrellas at eye level on crowded city streets when it rains.

It's because half the population has a below average IQ, and average is nothing to brag about.

7. There was a crowd of men by the ladies' room just now.
It's a small hallway, and there's an office right there, but it did seem like they were blocking the doorway.
