Who has been to Playa Del Carmen?
Where did you stay? Did you like it? What else is there to do? How is the fishing? What are good restuarants?

1. Me!Me!Me!
We've been 3 times and are returning for our 4th on Friday! It's great! For much more info, check out this site. Tons of hotels, restaurants, great atmosphere, beautiful beaches, etc. But don't tell anyone else about this gem, as we don't want it to turn into a Cancun...

Be sure to try Fritas great food. If you want a little less hustle check out Puerto Adventuras it 20 minutes south of playa, has a great beach. Have fun!

3. Beautiful beaches and very popular with Europeans
so be prepared for topless sunbathers. We made a day trip over from Cozumel on the ferry and enjoyed the town but found it much more commercialized than Cozumel. In particular, I recall a rather scary old woman coming right up to our table at a restaurant and begging in a very threatening way. I never saw beggars in Cozumel.
Take advantage of the fact that you are smack in the middle of the Mayan Riviera and take some tours of magnificent Mayan ruins - Chichen Itza, Tulum, Xcaret, and some great nature preserves where you can go tubing or snorkeling. Read a book or two on Mayan history and you'll get a lot more out of your visit.
Wish I were headed back to the area right now!
