The jinx is OVER. I, MikeG, am now rooting for the Red Sox. |
|
My rooting helped cause the Immaculate Reception in 1972.
Say your prayers A-Rod.

12. Do you have a link for your assertion that "the jinx is over"? |
|
Sorry but I think that the Sox are still battling a lot of ghosts. Yes, they showed a lot of heart by nearly wiping out the 8 run lead after spoiling the perfect game. But they then gave up 2 more runs to make it a LOT easier for Rivera to close them out in the ninth. Also, Schilling is a MAJOR worry. A power pitcher throwing at 85 mph is not just having a bad night - he is injured. Whether it is the ankle or something else, I don't know. IF the Sox do move on to the World Series, they won't win without a healthy Schilling. And don't kid yourself - the Sox have to WIN a W.S. before the jinx will be officially laid to rest. And then there is Pedro -if he fails them tonight, it is all over. Forget the "Daddy" stuff -although it certainly can't help morale in the Sox clubhouse. The bigger problem is that the Yanks have roughed him up more than any other team and they seem to "have his number" mentally. On the silver lining side, maybe the "Daddy" stuff was admitting that and that could take some of the pressure off and let him be himself. MAYBE.

And I'll have you know, my late great Dad always claimed credit for the Immaculate Reception. That's because he cheered for Franco while Franco was at Penn State, therefore he was a lifelong fan. Or something like that!
