I had to go back today after having scaling last week, and my gums were still so horribly sore. She prescribed "Magic Mouthwash". They mix it up at the pharmacy. It is: 1/3 Maalox, 1/3 liquid Benadryl, 1/3 lidocain viscous 2% solution. I just swished a small amount, and all the pain is gone. My mouth feels normal for the first time in a couple of weeks. I may actually get to eat solid food again :bounce:
My teeth are in great shape, and my gums looked normal before this whole brouhaha. Never had problems. The moral to this story for me is: Floss every day, even though it is a giant pain in the ass. I've always flossed, but not always every day, particularly after kids. I will be forever diligent. I will never go through this again.

1. Once you get in the habit of flossing |
|
every day, it will not hurt anymore.

3. I use the new floss holders |
|
that look like a "y" and you string the floss between the prongs. Makes flossing a lot easier.
