At times I had the feeling he will break it. He was hitting it really hard. He could have knocked out a human being :)

At times the sound was louder than sounds coming from his mouth. Like the poor podium was screaming...

5. Actually, I think the Podium won

It should have broken down but it stayed standing strong throughout Bush's constant attacks. No matter what Bush did the Podium took it and asked for more.

The way he hit the podium was not very forceful - he did a bitch-slap type of motion (open hand, palm contacted first) which looked really really bad.

I think the podium probably gave him a splinter for such a poor attack.

And hoping that the thing on his back would short circuit and we'd be treated to the sight of him jackknifing around the stage like a disco dancer run amuck.

No such luck but I felt the advantage was definitely the podium's. It stood firm and in the end seemed untouched while Bush looked quite ragged.
