French ban for speeding Clapton
BBC News

Rock star Eric Clapton has been suspended from driving in France after being caught speeding at 134mph.

The 59-year-old was stopped by police after driving his Porsche 911 Turbo at 53mph above the speed limit near Merceuil in western France.

He was given a 750 euro (£515) fine and his UK licence was confiscated. A court will determine the length of his ban in France although he may drive elsewhere.

After his suspension Clapton posed for photographs with French police. After paying his fine, Clapton left the scene in his Porsche - this time in the passenger seat with his secretary behind the wheel.

5. Only 134?
In a car like that, 134 is a disgrace.

6. Hmm..
Aren't the 911 Turbos electronically limited to 155mph like most other German-manufactured cars?

In which case 134mph is quite respectable, considering we don't know the condition of the road he was on. If he were on a racing circuit then it's pretty lame, but on a motorway or A-road that's okay and if he did it on a B-road then that's awesome (in a totally irresponsible, dangerous sort of way).

7. Porsches? no
Most Porsches are not electronically limited; the 300+ kph are a major selling point... at least in Germany.
