This is a collection of translation engines -- not that, as others have pointed out, any of them are very good:

There are several, with several focuses -- some on single words, some on phrases or blocks of text, some on translating entire URLs. Google and Altavista aren't the best, frankly, although if you know some of the language you're translating, the 'translate page' function at Google is better. I've been able to translate Spanish language pages using that function and get a pretty good idea what's being said.
