Blame eyesroll... she mentioned earworms
So why should I suffer alone? This radio station plays this song every day I think, right when I'm waking up. It's an evil plot, I think.

And don't bitch at me... you clicked, didn't you?

Midnight at the oasis
Send your camel to bed
Shadows paintin' our faces
Traces of romance in our heads!

5. Eeep! I Like That Song
The original by Maria Muldaur, though. I really dig the jazzy guitar solo in the middle and i really like her phrasing a lot. I don't like the recent remake though.

10. Remake?
I didn't know about that.

I don't hate the song, but having it in my head every. single. morning. is WAY too much.

I'll be your belly dancer... prancer
And you can be my sheik...

(Always bristle at that part... it's pronounced SHAKE not SHEEK... grr.)

22. It's Pronounced That Way NOW!
As the Middle East is more in our consciousness, we pronounce it as you say. But, trust me, in the 70's i never heard one person say "SHAKE". It was always "SHEEK". And, my dad's friend (and my Confirmation Sponsor) lived in Saudi for many years. And he ALWAYS said "SHEEK".

So, it was right when Maria said it.

On the remake thing: One of the faux country, semi-torch singers has a VH1 video. I don't know who she is, and i don't care. I don't do country.

9. don't get me started
There was this summer hit here, "Dragostea din tei" (or similar). Anyway, I got to spent a few days stateside, and I had hoped to escape the song ... but no: some guy a few rooms down kept it going 24/7 :grr:

26. No, I coulnd't possibly
This 70's station is all that I can listen to. It's sad, I know. I have to have the radio on all night. The classical station plays marches at inappropriate times, and the jazz station (the good one) goes off the air at midnight.
