Doctors Say Sleep Disorder Causes People To Have Sex With Strangers
so THAT has been my problem all these years!

<snip>

CANBERRA, Australia -- An Australian doctor said one of his patients has a disorder that led her to have sex with strangers while she slept.

The doctor tells The Sydney Morning Herald that the middle-aged woman would later have no recollection of her activities.

It wasn't until her partner woke, discovered she was missing from the bedroom, and found her having sex with another man that she discovered what she was doing.

The doctor will discuss the case at a meeting this weekend. He told an Australian radio station that "people are often stunned and overwhelmed" when they find out what's been happening.

He worries that people might be inhibited to seek professional help for the disorder because of the embarrassment and fear that partners and doctors won't believe that they were asleep.

4. In my 20+ years as a PSG Technologist
I've never heard of that one. There was an instance where a woman had orgasms in sleep. I mean real loud ones too. Never had her in the lab though.

Mr Belle is a RRT and a RPST. Funky. I'll have to ask about that one. I've heard of studies done to test for erectile dysfunction (the labs he's been involved with hasn't done one though), but not this.

11. Yes Ma'am I am.
RPSGT since 1985 & Lab Mgr. Yeah the erectile dysfunction study used to be the badge of honor amongst PSG people. If you did that test in the early to late 80's you were hot stuff. Nocturnal Penile Tumesence or NPT was the name of the study. I think problems with insurance reimbursement greatly reduced the number of those tests done by labs. Urologists can give people an at home test instead of putting them through a PSG. And you can use the old stamp trick too. Wrap a ring of stamps around the penis and go to bed. If the ring is broken in the AM you know that you have REM erections and your problem is pyschological not organic.

The woman's problem with sleep orgasms ended up being a type of neurological disorder but I don't remember how she was treated.
