"Bob Roberts"...thoughts?
I highly recommend this movie...suprise suprise, after hours of internet browsing for political movie recommendations via IMDb.com and rottentomatoes.com and amazon.com and too-many-others-to-remember.com, I still had never heard of this movie, though it's in all of their databses.

I happened to mentioned to a friend that I like Jack Black, and he mentioned the movie Bob Roberts, knowing my love of political movies. They are almost all I will watch. He didn't mention how absolutely fantastic it is!

I loved it. I was also told that they didn't release the soundtrack on purpose, because they were afraid some people (conservative dimwits) might take it too seriously.

This movie is funny and simple, yet very entertaining. Sad too...sorry, I am not the best movie critic...:) Suffice to say it should have popped up on the radar screen by now!!!

1. I enjoyed the movie as well.
I had never heard of it until I saw it on HBO. I found it to be humorous, but also frighteningly "possible". (I mean look at the mess we are in here in the US).

2. We loved it
Saw it a few years back, and we keep talking about renting it again. Tim Robbins is one of my favorite actors. I could sit through almost any dreck if he were in it.

I look at the coup in California and it reminds me a lot of this movie.

3. Hilarious. Pathetically sad. And right on target.
It's too bad they never released a soundtrack album. Tim Robbins did the songs for this movie as well and they are just damn good, and all too scarily plausible.

5. Perfectly put, E_A
At one point I had to explain that I *would* be laughing more if it wasn't so disgustingly real.

4. I saw it about 4 times last month...
it was on high rotation on one of the channels here. Interestingly it was, on Rupert Murdoch's cable network. How ironic!

6. too eerily accurate at times
You know we're in trouble when satire becomes less relevant because it has been superceded by reality.

7. As yes ... The Times, They Are A-Changing Back!
I've thought Tim Robbins was a genius ever since I saw this and discovered that TR wrote and directed it also. And dude, I didn't remember maniacal suporter that was Jack Black, but yes it was.

8. That's my Dad's name, in fact.
My name is very similar as well.

Me Pop is a Wal-Mart Republican. He saw the movie but failed to grok the irony.

9. Seriously?
Your dad's name is Bob Roberts?

That's actually pretty cool. :)

The thing I liked most about the script was they never said he was running as a Repuke...they just whined about "libruls" and said he was a "right-wing rebel."
