Wow, Walt Disney was a bastard.... |
|
Did anyone else know this? I was reading Fast Food Nation and it went into Walt a bit. He was a union buster, and even was an FBI informant snitching on "commies" during the 50s.
WHo knew?

1. Are you serious? I thought EVERYONE knew! He really was a prick... |
|
...and he stole Mickey Mouse from his partner.
No talent, but a good business sense, which, I guess, means screwing those around you.

Really kinda wrecks Disney for me - my childhood was spent watching the product of a bastard!

9. I used to work in animation, so I read a lot about him.... |
|
...there's a really trashy book about him--check your local library. Its title is something like Prince of Darkness.
I always thought his devotion to a YOUNG Annette Funicello was very unseemly.

Who happened to work for the biggest asshole since Henry Ford. Their work is no less special for his involvement.

of Walt the major league racist. I can not remember all the details. I think Walt was from southern Illinois. Not that that is an excuse. Some of his early work was very racist. I think it turned up in an auction in England a couple years back. Was authenticated.

like charlie chaplin for, in the actual words of j edgar hoover, being "prematurely anti-fascist" and speakingout aginst hitler in the 30 when guys like ford and hearst were still making big bucks building up his war machine
the great dictator by chaplin was the film that planted the seed of two following decaeds of harrassment by hoover's corrupt fbi

7. Disney Corp is a true fascist organization |
|
Hell, they want schools to pony up big-time so the kindergarteners can do a play of one of their cartoon movies (The Lion King?).
Disney also pays bounty for such wrongdoers too. :eyes:

15. Bambi was my first movie at age 4 and I cried for days. |
|
My earliest memory of going to a theater was seeing Bambi in 1943. The movie left me terrified, wondering if I could lose my mother too. I would never allow a small child of mine to see it.

16. You know, it's easy to make kids cry |
|
So as a result, certain storytellers like to really get sadistic with children's material. Yeah, I remember crying at Bambi too when I was three or four. I remember seeing Jaws when I was like four or five, a movie that had legs being bitten off and blood all over the water. It didn't scar nearly as much as Bambi did. Ironic huh?

|
although, to be fair, I'm not sure how racist it was by the standards of the time (the film was made in 1953).
