unspeakable cretins abound.
I found out today that one of my students was raped very recently. Fucker tore her up.

I teach middle school kids.

2. that is horrible
is she in the hospital?

Hopefully she will get good counseling and will heal physically and emotionally.

I also hope the cretin is caught and punished.

4. Grrrrrrrr....
...what some alleged humans will do to another.

That's just goddamned sad and infuriating.

5. it's rare
that I want to do violence to another person, but this is one of those times. Five minutes and a crowbar. He's already in custody, though.

6. And that's why it's a hot button issue here on DU
There's not a woman who if she hasn't been raped, has probably come damn close to it. I am so sorry for that young girl and the issues she will have to deal with and move through before she can be OK again.

It causes unspeakable pain for the victims - of either gender.

7. Yes, they do.....
Yesterday, a guy at work was talking about his son's 8th grade graduation dance (the kid is now 15, so figure this was two years ago).

Outside of the school hall during the dance, there were 6th grade girls offering sex to the 8th grade boys...dressed apparently in their Britney Spears clone garb. This was in an upscale suburb north of Chicago. Well-to-do mostly repuke territory. (The guy at work is a Democrat, though. Lives in Phil Crane's district, hates him.)

Hell, they sell girls' clothing worthy or Britney Spears for girls as young as the she-triplet...who will be 4 two weeks from today. Not that any of us buy that crap for her.

In many ways, this is a sad society in which we live.

11. I hope your student is getting counseling for this.
I'd hate to see something like that happen to what is essentially a little girl. Which middle school still is.

It's traumatic enough when a grown woman is raped.

I don't know the situation surrounding that, though.

Sweet kid. She was doing really well.

They'd be praying for police intervention. My thoughts and prayers go out to that child and her family.

12. I have a similar story
A man in a van drove through my area, which is known to be full of children, lured a 12-year-old girl into the vehicle, and raped her while parked on a sidestreet.

Sadly, though his sketch was on the front page of the newspaper, he was never caught. 9/11 happened just weeks later and the whole thing was forgotten.

Sometimes I wish I knew who she was so I could tell her I remember what happened and I care about her.

14. homeschool
Poor, poor little girl...
And I am thinking of you, too. That helpless feeling we have to endure when a child we care about is harmed is damn tough to deal with...

I'll add this to the infinite list of reasons I homeschool.

(And have nothing to do with right wing-ed christians.)

It is just safer and better for my kids out of the USA public schools.
