Don't play Scrabble with an eight-year-old |
|
You'll find yourself severely handicapped. I was babysitting my niece and nephews and was playing scrabble with the eight-year-old. I discovered that I could spell the word "dildo" for a TRIPLE WORD SCORE! However, I thought that I didn't want to explain to my sister-in-law where her son learned the word "dildo," so instead I went for "axe" for 6 points. :grr:

6. Oh hell that's okay - anytime you let a kid win! |
|
:)
But, for future reference, the "x" is worth 8 points!

Iron (II or III) oxide, Silver oxide, even Water (though it only indirectly uses the oxide ion with the polyatomic ion OH-).
Chemistry vocabulary is a must-have for Scrabble players. I rmember frustrating my freeper brother by busting out "perchlorate" (ClO4-) for some game-breaking number of points... he nearly flipped the board and claimed I was "making chemistry shit up"

9. Playing Scrabble With Eight-Year-Olds is Easy |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-15-04 12:22 AM by GiovanniC
You can just make up words or definitions and they'll never know any different.
Just say, "Um, a dildo is... a kind of bird. Yeah, that's it. A kind of bird. You see that bird outside the window? That's a dildo. I win!"
Of course, then the kid goes to school and tells his teacher: "I was at my aunt's house last night and I saw a dildo. It was red. There are lots of dildos at my aunt's house."

10. No, this kid is smart as a tack. |

And it wasn't school I was worried about...it was his mother.

12. Well, That Would Be Even Worse |
|
YOU: D-I-L-D-O! I win! KID: What's a "dildo"? YOU: You know those fried pickles they have at some restaurants? Well, that's "dill" and "dough" together. They abbreviate it "dildo". KID: Oh.
Three weeks later:
MOM: And we'll have an order of fried pickles. KID: I like dildos! WAITER: Ummm... okay. MOM: I'm going to fuckin' kill your uncle.

And those are the EXACT kind of times that kids decide to try out the new words they've learned.
