Hello....is there anybody in there?......
.........Just nod if you can hear me. :headbang:

Is there anyone home?

Come on, now.
I hear you’re feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again.

Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts:
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship’s smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re sayin’.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I can’t explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

Ok.
Just a little pinprick.
There’ll be no more --aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick.

Can you stand up?
I do believe it’s working. good.
That’ll keep you going for the show.
Come on it’s time to go.

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship’s smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re sayin’.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

4. I once used this song
To explain to a counselor what it felt like to be a major depressive. I'd been locked up in a loony bin (true story) for a week which was ridiculous because loony bins are now pretty much rehabs.

So all us poor nutcases were shoved into a separate wing where we got no psych treatment or anything else and had to go through the same 12 step bullshit as the rest of the drunks and druggies.

So it didn't help much and one day while we were in some bogus workshop ("how to cope without substance abuse" or something), the counselor or jailer or whatever she was kept babbling on and on and some guy finally burst out, "man you have no idea how it feels to be me!"

So she asked, "Well, how does it feel?"

Dead silence. Finally, I started talking and I just quoted the entire song. You could have heard a pin drop. All these dead eyes started lighting up, heads rose, started nodding. They all understood. For the first time in their lives, someone put into words what they were feeling. It was a Moment.

Of course, we all retreated right back to depression and apathy but once I got out, I got better. Thanks, Floyd.

Always wanted to write to Roger Waters and tell him that story....
