Because 9/11 showed that someone had the audacity to attack the US, so we have to repay the rest of the world forever and ever!
My sincerest apologies to anyone who personally suffered from 9/11. I am simply tired of the "world changed" attitude, because it didn't. 9/11 was a terrible tragedy, but it isn't any different (other than in magnitude, perhaps) than what the rest of the world has been going through. I find the attitude of most Americans hypocritical when they discuss the subject, because so many of them simply couldn't be bothered with concern over terrorism before 9/11 because it hadn't happened to them. God forbid it happens in the US though, because then it really matters!

Did it become a cube instead of a spheroid? Did it change into a big ball of marshmallow fluff? On 9/11 the whole world changed, but nobody ever says what it changed in to.
